Gareth Bale is clear that, before any player, there is a squad. At least that is what he said in a press conference on Wednesday previewing Real Madrid's trip to Camp Nou to face Barcelona in the Clasico this Saturday. The Welshman, in this sense, explained that he's not worried about individual awards and said it's more important that Madrid win trophies than he wins a Ballon d'Or which has been dominated by Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in recent years.

"I don't think a lot about individual prizes, like the Ballon d'Or and so on," the Los Blancos forward confessed. "I try to improve with Real Madrid and if you win trophies for your club then those individual accolades follow, but for me they are not massively important." It's a message which, in theory, could be interpreted as a message for Ronaldo, who's more often found trying to benefit himself than the team.
Bale also said that the BBC - Bale, Benzema and Cristiano - get on really well. "We have a great relationship on the pitch, we play very well together and it's not for us to judge if we are the best. I'm sure the media and other people will have their opinions but all we can do is go on the pitch, try to score goals, help the team and make the Madid fans happy," he said.
On their rivals - Barcelona's MSN, Messi, Suarez and Neymar - he added: "They are obviously great players, world class players and they are doing very well at the moment. We know all about them and they know all about us. Come Saturday it will be a great game, I'm sure it will be one for everybody to enjoy and we'll try to make it as exciting as we can."
