Do Barcelona or Real Madrid have the best all-time El Clasico record
Real Madrid face Barcelona at the Nou Camp in El Clasico on Saturday - live on Sky Sports 1 HD - but which team has the best all-time record?
Real have won 71 of their 171 La Liga encounters with Barcelona since 1929, compared to Barca's 68 victories.
Los Blancos also hold the record for the longest winning streak - winning six encounters back-to-back between September 1962 and February 1965.
However, Real's dominance has been on the wane since 1973 - Madrid had 43 wins to Barcelona's 28 at that point. Since then, the Catalans have won 40 Clasicos to Real's 28.
Recent Barca dominance
Barca are looking to extend their current 39-game unbeaten run this season - which has already smashed Real Madrid's previous record of 34 set in 1988/89 - and victory will also level the teams' head-to-head win record in all competitions to 92-92.
Almost all square in all comps
If Barcelona win on Saturday, they will join Real Madrid on 92 wins in the fixture
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi will be looking to score his 500th career goal and become La Liga's top all-time El Clasico goalscorer - a record he currently shares with the late Real Madrid forward Alfredo di Stefano on 14 goals each.
Barcelona also carry momentum going into the fixture after winning the most recent Clasico in November last year, thrashing Real 4-0 at the Bernabeu, with Luis Suarez, Neymar and Andres Iniesta scoring the goals.
There have been 550 El Clasico goals in La Liga, 3.2 per game on average, but Real win the historic contest for goals scored with 278, compared to 272.
The highest-scoring Clasicos came in February 1935 and January 1943 - when Real beat Barca 8-2 and the pair drew 5-5, respectively. Goals are almost guaranteed - there hasn't been a 0-0 draw since November 2002.
Barcelona are currently top of La Liga with eight games to play, nine points clear of Atletico and ten ahead of third-placed Real. A victory on Saturday will almost certainly guarantee their league dominance over Real for a fourth consecutive season.
